Jurojin
Netsuke: katabori: Jurojin. Ivory, carved and stained. Smiling figure of Jurojin, dancing, his right leg raised, his left arm outstretched and on it seated a minogame (a long and tailed turtle believed to be over 1000 years old). His long robe has well-carved folds and is lightly incised with cloud scrolls; finely incised and stained beard and tail and features. Himotoshi in the back of his robe.
History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
