Description

Netsuke: katabori: Daruma. Ivory, carved and stained with traces of red paint in Daruma's mouth. Figure of Daruma sitting cross-legged, his hands resting on his knees and yawning during his nine year meditation His robe covers his head and is decorated with clouds. Himotoshi through the base.

History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
