Description

Slip-coated earthenware with incised decoration painted in green and yellow under lead-glaze

Pale buff earthenware, thrown, the interior coated with cream slip, incised, and painted with green and yellow under lead-glaze; the upper part of the exterior lead-glazed; the lower part and footring unglazed. Circular with carinated sides, standing on a high sloping footring. There are three spur marks on the inside. Decorated on the interior with a double circle containing eight narrow petals with foliage in four of the spaces. There are two large splodges of green and two of yellow over the design. On the sides below the rims there is a border of stylized leaves between pairs of horizontal bands, with alternate splodges of green and yellow over it.
