Lithograph (uncoloured) on white wove paper. Inlaid within a frame of buff wove paper (approx. height 360mm x width 515mm). A group of men stand in the foreground, inspecting horses before a race. Sir James Graham stands at the centre, his left hand resting on Althorp's shoulder. On the left is the Duke of Richmond and Edward Stanley. On the right are the Marquis of Exeter and the Duke of Rutland. A figure seen between Althorp and Exeter is Mr Young and the man seen from behind in the far left foreground (only sketchily represented) is Mr Theobold. Signed with monogram at lower left: 'HB'. Title printed below the border: 'A GROUP OF SPORTING CHARACTERS AT EPSOM. / HOW ARE THE ODDS ON THE _DERBY_?'. The publisher's details printed below: 'Published by Thos. McLean, 26, Haymarket, June 12th 1832.'. A small, circular blind stamp at lower left: 'THOs. MCLEAN'. Printer's details below the border at lower right: 'A. Ducôté's Lithogy. 70, St Martins Lane.'.
