Lithograph (uncoloured) on white wove paper. Inlaid within a frame of buff wove paper (approx. height 360mm x width 515mm). A weak impression. A cat (Bishop of Exeter) wearing ecclesiastical robes and bands, with a bishop's hat falling off its head, crouches in the right foreground watching a tiny man (Lord John Russell) lift the lid of a small box in the left background marked: 'The freedom of the Town of Plymouth'. Signed with monogram at lower left: 'HB'. Title printed below the border: 'THE _EXETER CAT_ AND _PLYMOUTH_ _MOUSE_'. The publisher's details printed below the border to the left: 'Published by Thos. McLean, 26, Haymarket, Jan. 1st 1834.'. A small, circular blind stamp at lower left: 'THOs. MCLEAN'. Printer's details below the border to the right: 'A. Ducôté's Lithogy. 70 St Martins Lane.'. Printed above the border at upper right: 'HB Sketches No 294'.
