Lithograph (uncoloured) on white wove paper. Inlaid within a frame of buff wove paper (approx. height 360mm x width 515mm). Thomas Spring Rice on the left, as David, wearing a tunic and sandals, swings a rock at the enormous bulk of Daniel O'Connell on the right, who is dressed a Goliath, wearing tunic and sandals and holding a cudgel in his right hand. Signed with artist's monogram at lower left: 'HB'. Title printed below the border: 'DAVID & GOLIAH.'. The publisher's details printed below the border to the left: 'Published by Thos. McLean, 26, Haymarket, April 30th 1834.'. A small, circular blind stamp at lower left: 'THOs. MCLEAN'. Printer's details below the border to the right: 'A. Ducôté's Lithog. 70, St Martins Lane'. Printed above the border at upper right: 'HB Sketches No. 316.'.
