Lithograph (uncoloured) on white wove paper. Inlaid within a frame of buff wove paper (approx. height 360mm x width 515mm). In front of the statue of George Canning in Parliament Square; to the left, a naked Lord Fitzwilliam covers his modesty with four loaves of bread. A second figure to the right in a long, fur-timmed cloak is Lord Malmesbury. Signed with artist's monogram at lower left: 'HB'. Title printed below the border: 'THE WAGER'. Below the title: 'AN ANTICIPATED EXHIBITION IN PALACE YARD.'. The publisher's details printed below the border to the left: 'Pubd. by Thos. McLean, 26, Haymarket, May 10th 1834.'. A small, circular blind stamp at lower left: 'THOs. MCLEAN'. Printer's details below the border to the right: 'A. Ducôté's Lithogy. 70, St Martins Lane'. Printed above the border at upper right: 'HB Sketches No. 319.'.
