Lithograph (uncoloured) on white wove paper. Inlaid within a frame of buff wove paper (approx. height 360mm x width 515mm). The 'REFORM' coach is being driven reckelssly by Lord John Russell and is in danger of falling over. King William IV calls 'Help!' from the window of the coach. The two figures sitting on the top are Brougham (right) and Lord Melbourne (left). A prostrate figure lying in the road on the right is Lord Ripon, who is being tended to by the Duke of Richmond. Two men in the left foreground, who jumped from the coach, are Mr Stanley and Sir James Graham (sitting on the ground). Signed with artist's monogram at lower left: 'HB'. Title printed below the border: 'THE _UPSETTING_ OF THE _REFORM COACH_.'. The publisher's details printed below the border to the left: 'Published. by Thos. McLean, 26, Haymarket, June 4th 1834.'. A small, circular blind stamp at lower left: 'THOs. MCLEAN'. Printer's details below the border to the right: 'A. Ducôté, Lithog. 70, St Martin's Lane'. Printed above the border at upper right: 'HB Sketches No. 324.'.
