Lithograph (uncoloured) on white wove paper. Inlaid within a frame of buff wove paper (approx. height 360mm x width 515mm). Lord Brougham, in the character of Icarus, is seen falling out of the sky, his wig and cap have fallen off and some of the feathers of his wings are labelled with the names of newspapers, variously, 'Times', 'Spectator', 'Morning Chronicle', 'Globe' etc. The sun, at upper centre, is a coin bearing the head of William IV (with smiling face). Signed with artist's monogram at lower left: 'HB'. Title printed below the border: 'THE _FALL_ OF _ICARUS_.'. The publisher's details printed below the border to the left: 'Published by T. McLean, 26, Haymarket, November 29th. 1834.'. Printer's details below the border to the right: 'Ducôté & Stephen Litho. 70, St. Martins Lane'. Printed above the border at upper right: 'HB Sketches No. 354'.
