Note

The original lifetime wax statuette was modelled by Degas in the 1880s (now Musée d'Orsay, Paris). This posthumous authorized edition bronze was produced by the A.A. Hébrard foundry, Paris, at an unknown date after 1931 and before 1948. This sculpture remained in the same collection from 1954 until 2018, as is proved by the original invoice for sale which is still extant. At the time it was purchased by Miss Anne Allnatt (later Hoellering) whose father, Major Allnatt, had donated Rubens’ masterful 'Adoration of the Magi' to King's College Chapel in 1961.
