Box, lacquer. Shallow rectangular box with rounded corners and an overhanging lid (A) with two cusped sides. The exterior of the box has a black ground with brown streaks and the lid is decorated in gold and silver with traces of brown and red, with pine and prunus branches in hiramakie (low-relief sprinkled design). The interior and the base are decorated with nashiji (shimmering spangles).
