Drypoint with light surface tone, printed in dark brown ink on heavy Japanese paper. 84 of an edition of the 100 made of this second state of three of the first plate. Dodgson additionally records an impression from the cancelled plate. Signed in brown ink by the artist in the margin at lower left: 'A Legros'. A partially erased inscription at lower left: '84' [encircled] and at lower right: 'N 84'.
