After the work by Dutch artist, Jan Verkolje (1650-1693) dated 1684. A spaniel springs forwards to the right, its head directed upwards. The dog stands on a path with trees, vegetation and some wooden planks to left and grass to the right.
History note: VanSittart gave 1,485 engravings to the Fitzwilliam Museum in 1879 and this mezzotint was probably included within this group. The number written in graphite on the verso presumably relates to some kind of count by curators at the time of the acquisition.
