Note

Decorated by the method in imitation of engraving or etching on glass, patented by John Davenport (1765-1848) in 1806. A finely ground glass frit was mixed with a paste of double refined loaf sugar and water, and was applied to the surface with squairrel or camel hair brushes. The design was scratched through this, and then sufficient heat was applied to semi-vitrify the surface.
