"This Hymn was originally composed for the Boys & Girls of the Ward School of Cornhill and Lime Street wards. It was afterwards performed at the Blue Coat Hospital and at Christchurch, Newgate Street, with great effect by the contrast of a number of voices. RJSS." -- additional note at end
