One of twelve Continental coins and four silver ingots from the Pimprez hoard, dép. Oise, France, 2002 (dep. c.1140). These were selected from the portion of the hoard not entered for sale in Spink Auction 6 October 2004.
Silver ingot, similar to last, half, small, chisel-cut and snapped, 9.95g. Similar ingots in the form of cast cakes of silver, some whole and some cut, have occurred in several south German and Central European hoards of the late 12th and 13th centuries. See B. Prokisch, and T. Kühtreiber (ed.), Der Schatzfund von Fuchsenhof. The Fuchsenhof Hoard. Poklad Fuchsenhof (Studien zur Kulturgeschichte von Oberösterreich 15), Linz 2004, pp. 83-8. They are also known from Romania. The Pimprez hoard, which contained 12 ingots of this type, is significantly earlier than the other hoards cited.
