Description

Lead glass, the cup-shaped bowl blown, and wheel-engraved; short stem, with domed foot on a square, cut base. The front is decorated with a view of Sunderland bridge, and inscribed in panels below: 'A West View of the Iron Bridge at SUNDERLAND Begun Sep 24th 1793 Open'd Augt 9th 1796. 214 Cast Iron Wrought 46 Tons Height 100 Feet Span 236'. On the back, is a panel with the monogram J.E.S. ?. Below the rim there is a band of floral decoration The remaining part of the bowl is decorated with garlands of flowers.
