Tortoise-shell with miniature of flowers on a marble slab
Tortoise-shell set with a miniature in bodycolour and watercolour on card, mounted under glass in gold. The circular box has straight sides with reeded gold rim mounts and a flat pull-off lid. The lid is lined with grey silk, and a grey stone is set into the base. The circular miniature depicts flowers, including roses, tulips, delphiniums, iris, poppies, narcissi and auriculas, on a marble slab. Inside the box is a gold plaque inscribed 'VESVUIANA PRODVCTIO'.
