Studies of drapery and legs for the figure of Merlin in the large oil 'Merlin and Vivien' (1870-1874) at the Lady Lever Gallery, Port Sunlight. The model for Merlin was the American W.J. Stillmann, the husband of Rossetti's pupil Marie Spartali.
