Coverboards coverd with dark red grained effect paper. Collocation: four gatherings containing the following number of folios: twenty one (seven torn out); twenty four (fourteen torn out); twenty three (fifteen torn out); twenty three (eleven torn out) and one attached to the back cover.

This sketchbook contains preliminary sketches and studies for the following engravings: 'The Listener' (special poetry number, 12 July 1933) [274]; 'Sunday Morning' [303], 1934; 'Cart Shed' [306], 1934; 'Milkman' [312], 1934; 'The Red Lion' [280], 1934; 'Farmhouse' [302]. 1934; 'The Escape' [410], 1936; 'Farmyard' [283], 1934; 'Fool's Song' [318 and 319], 1934 and 'Tennis' [307], 1934. Study of church interior (Sunday Morning?) identified as Haulton. There are assorted sketches including a horse (or other hoofed herbivore) rearing to browse on high leaves and horses in harness.
