Description

Coverboards covered in cream coloured linen over board. Off-white paper, perforated along spine edge. Collocation: the folios are attached to the back cover with three staples. Pages 26-77 inclusive have not been used, though is a small ?waxed paper square tucked between 63 and 64.

Note

This sketchbook contains preliminary studies for the following engravings: 'Mill Lane' [555], 1948; 'Ponies' P.1120-1974, 1947; 'Horses at Night', P.1128-1974, 1949; 'Ponies', P.1142/3-1974, 1950. Also, preliminary studies for 'Period Piece'. Some part figure studies including legs and arms, and several pages of assorted text including a travel log and biographical details of Louis Simond.
