The figure "3" to indicate the number of bars rest at the beginning (above the 2-breve rest) is in pencil, and in a different hand.
At the top of page 56 is written "Alexander Balus" in pencil in a later hand, erased (off print on p. 57 is stronger).
Page 55 is of empty staves.
