Description

Coverboards covered in simulated water silk paper with a black adhesive tape along spine. Paper: inside front and back covers and f.42 verso are pale pink/peach-coloured stiffened paper. Otherwise off-white paper, edges possibly red tinted at some stage. Collocation: four gatherings containing the following number of leaves: eleven (one attached to front cover and three torn out); twelve (one torn out); twelve; twelve (one attached to back cover and one torn out. Binding not very stable - pages loose or gatherings starting to pull out.

Note

Preliminary studies for 'Gethsemene' [39] 1912, and 'A Dream' [36], 1911. Studies including a watercolour of Cruxifiction. Studies of geometric designs and spirals, possibly inspired by tiles. Figure studies and portrait studies. Several repeated themes which may be preliminary ideas for later works.
