Clear glass, cut and wheel-engraved. Ogee bowl with four panels and facetted lower part; circular foot with facetted edge. Each panel has a border of scrolls, strapwork and other features. The panels on the front and back contain respectively the allianzwappen of two families and an elaborate monogram; the others contain allegorical female figures, one wearing armour and carrying a sword and a ? brazier, the other, probably Vanity holding a snake and a mirror. The foot is engraved with a border of triangles separated by dots.
History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
