Note

Susie Cooper first introduced banding designs in the early 1930s, as they were quicker and easier to produce than detailed hand-painted patterns. 'Wedding Ring', however, required greater skill to apply smooth application of turpentine-thinned colours smoothly, varying brush strokes to achieve dark and lighter shades within each band. It became one of Susie Cooper’s most popular designs, in production from the early 1930s until the 1960s, available through the department store, John Lewis. Cooper was also one the first designers to introduce straight-sided coffee cans.
