Description

Clear glass, silver-stained and painted, yellow and brown with border of blue glass. The Triumph of Chastity over Love. Chastity sits in a golden car drawn by two unicorns over the prostrate bodies of Venus and Cupid. She carries a palm, as do the five women in the landscape background and the man and woman following the car.

Notes

History note: From the collection of Dr C.A. Ralegh Radford, FSA. In the possession of the vendor's father at Bradninch Manor from at least 1918-21 to his death in 1925 and then in the possession of the vendor and his mother there until 1949 when the panel and its companion were removed. See letter of 16th September, 1983. They may have been in the vendor's father's possession since 1914.
