Maple wood lined with tortoise-shell, with miniature of wicker basket of roses (formerly fitted as a music box)
Maple wood and tortoise-shell set with a miniature in bodycolour on card, mounted under glass in gilt metal. The rectangular box has straight sides, a recessed hinge and a gilt metal thumbpiece. The interior is lined in tortoise-shell. The base once contained the fittings for a musical box. The octagonal miniature depicts a wicker basket of pink roses on a marble slab.
