Description

Earthenware coated in pale buff slip, and painted in dark blue, turquoise, dark green, yellowish-green, yellow, red, purple, pale brown, brownish-black, a little black, and white enamels under clear glaze. Circular with shallow curved sides and flat centre, standing on a broad footring pierced by two suspension holes at the top. Decorated on the front with the head of a girl inspired by Botticelli's 'Primavera'. She has pale brown flesh, turquoise eyes, flower-strewn blonde hair, and a garland of foliage round her neck. The background is turquoise with areas of dark green and sprays of blue-green foliage.
