Fruit Dish
Silversmith: Alexander, Philip Frederick
Silver; circular with slightly everted rim, hammered pierced embossed and chased with openwork border of roses and stylised leaves.
Silver, hammered, pierced, embossed and chased, and punched. Circular with slightly everted rim, deep curved sides, and slightly convex centre. The surface on both sides is hammered. Round the top of the sides where they curve out towards the edge, there is a border of ten embossed and chased wild roses linked by stems with three pairs of leaves, with the background cut away. Round the edge there is a narrow line of punching.
History note: Given to Miss Philpott with M.5-1999 in appreciation of her services as Secretary of the Cambridge Arts and Crafts Society, by members of the Society in May 1913. Terence Hodgkinson (7th October 1913 - 4th October 1999)
