Description

Buff fritware, pierced, incised and painted under a transparent glaze

Buff fritware, wheel thrown, painted blue with incised and pierced decoration on separate areas of the vessel, all under crazed transparent glaze.
Shape: finely potted bi-conical bowl with plain rim and foot ring
Interior: rim is painted blue, below which a concentric frieze, comprising circular or triangular pierced holes embellished with lightly incised decoration, forms a cable pattern.
Exterior: blue paint on the rim continues on the exterior. Pierced frieze is also visible but lacks added incised decoration. A transparent glaze covers the surface evenly except on the foot ring base where coverage is irregular.
