Description

Cream fritware with carved decoration under a clear glaze

Cream fritware, wheel thrown, with carved decoration and a clear glaze.
Shape: Finely potted conical bowl with a plain rim and low foot ring base.
Interior: A repeating, scrolling palmette pattern is carved into the middle of the body forming a concentric frieze. This frieze is defined by a pair of lines incised above and below it.
Exterior: Undecorated except for a transparent glaze that covers the body up to the foot ring base.
