Description

Terracotta modelled in the round. The Pope sits enthroned in a chair, fully vested, wearing the triple crown, his head turned a quarter to his left, clean shaven, with his right hand raised in blessing.

Notes

History note: Collection: Gerald, 7th Duke of Wellington. Bought by him from Barzilai, dealer, via Sistina, Rome, and sold by the duke to the Museum for £100.
