Description

The Assumption of the Virgin, wood, carved in the round, painted, and gilded, with gilded wooden stand (A).

Wood, carved in the round, painted and gilt. The Virgin, both hands lost, stands on a cloud of eight cherubs' heads, and her draperies billow out around her. Her dress is painted with a rich floral pattern and much gilding survives. Her mantle at the back has a rich design. The figure is supported on a carved and gilt wood stand
