Red-brown wax, with wire armature which projects as fingers from the hands, and from the lifted foot; attached to rectangular wooden base. The nude dancer stands in an arabesque on her right leg with her left arm extended in front.
History note: Degas heirs, 1917; at Adrien. A. Hébrard, Paris; Nelly Hébrard; sold 1955 to M. Knoedler & Co., New York; sold 1956 to Mr and Mrs Paul Mellon, Upperville, VA.
