Wax, coloured green, greyish-blue, pink, dark pink, stone, brown, grey and black and gilt. Three-quarter length figure of Voltaire facing to left, his hat and stick in front of him and both arms extended over a shelf or table. He holds a ring in his left hand and his right is over a jewel box on the table. To its left (viewer's left) is a back, and below his arm, a bunch of three roses, two books and further to the right a paper. Black background. In rectangular gilt wood and glass frame.
