Capital of a column
Production: Unknown
Marble, four-sided capital of a column, carved on three sides. The iconography should be read in the following order: 1) a bearded man seated on a throne, playing the harp; 2) a woman riding a horse, holding a spherical object in her right hand; 3) the same woman leading the horse with her right hand, a large bird upon her left. Borg 1968 identified the man as David the Psalmist. Chen 2013 identified the woman as Abigail, arguing that the column depicts Abigail going to David, as told in I Samuel 25:18 and 25:42, in the Old Testament.
