Circular portrait medallion of a half-length figure in relief. The figure is set obliquely to the picture plane and the face is seen in a three-quarter view turned to the right. The right arm is held horizontally in front of the body. The figure wears a crown and the Toison d'Or. He is clad in a fur-lined robe; to the left of his head is scratched '1430' in a rude style. This and other parts bear traces of gilding.
History note: Hollingworth Magniac; sold Christie, Manson & Woods, 2 July, 4 July and following days, Catalogue of the Renowned Collection of Works of Art, chiefly formed by the late Hollingoworth Magniac, Esq., (Known as the Colworth Collection), p. 86, first part of lot 264, a pair of of circular medallions. Sold to McClean for £3.3.0.
