Of this piece, Vicky Lindo wrote, 'My dear mum died last year and we were lucky enough to spend almost three weeks with her in the local hospice before she left. Obie is the hospice dog. He comes to spread a little joy, he can balance on his back legs and hold his paws up in the air. He receives hugs readily and will try to sit on your lap if you let him, he is a big dog so it's quite overwhelming but wonderful. He sat by mums bedside and delicately put his paws up on the rail to be next to her so she could scratch his big head. I pushed my nose into his sweet smelling coat and breathed him in. Even my sister who has a fear of dogs gave him a pat. What a good boy! In my grief and sadness of losing my mum I made this pot, to remember this time I spent in the hospice with my mum, our family and Obie, and of course his owner Ceri. Mum was a prolific collage artist and painter. Some things you can see on the pot are; my mum working on a painting of Obie, me and my three sisters like paper dolls cut from one of her magazines. I have two faces, one of a daughter and one of a carer. Family, gardening, birds and home were everything to her. She was the queen bee to us, a crane for longevity as she lives on through all of us.' [Artist's email newsletter, 13 April 2025]
