Description

Soft-paste porcelain tea cup, decorated underglaze in blue, onglaze in polychrome enamels and gilt.

Soft-paste porcelain tea cup, decorated underglaze in blue, onglaze in polychrome enamels and gilt. Circular with curved sides, footring and loop handle with kick terminal. Underglaze blue ground reserved with two oval medallions, each containing an exotic bird standing beside berried branches, framed by gilt rococo scroll work. Between the reserves there is a gilt floral spray; on the handle, a stylised flower and a spot; and round the rim, a gilt band. On the inside there is a pink and yellow insect.
