Description

Soft-paste porcelain saucer dish, decorated with a cottage in a landscape surrounded by flower sprays, underglaze in bright blue, onglaze in polychrome enamels, and gilt

Soft-paste porcelain, decorated underglaze in bright blue, onglaze in iron-red, yellow, green, turquoise, blue, pink, lilac and brown enamels, and gilt. Circular with shallow, rounded and fluted sides and a scalloped rim with twenty-four arcs. Decorated in the centre with a circular medallion in polychrome enamels showing a cottage in a mountainous landscape, enclosed by a gilt band and a turquoise husk border. The well is decorated with three trailing floral sprays separated by butterflies, and round the rim there is a band of underglaze bright blue, gilt with a barbed chain link pattern between scalloped and dentilated gilt borders.
