Description

Soft-paste porcelain bough-pot, decorated with sprigs of flowers underglaze in scale-blue, onglaze in polichrome enamels, and gilt.

Soft-paste porcelain bough-pot, decorated underglaze in scale-blue, onglaze in iron-red, green, pink and purple enamels, and gilt. The bombé tri-lobate sides are moulded with three scroll-edged cartouches below a raised and out-turned gallery moulded with scrolls flanking quatre-lobed aperture surrounded by smaller circular holes. The flat back rises to a rococo scroll-moulded cresting which has been contemporaneously broken and glazed over, and is pierced with two holes for suspension. Decorated underglaze in blue with a scale ground, reserved with gilt-edged cartouches painted in polychrome enamels with pendant flower swags. The back is similarly decorated and the moulded gallery is picked out with feathering, C-scrolls, ermine-spots and a barbed chain link motif in gilding.
