Soft-paste porcelain milk jug and cover, decorated with birds in underglaze blue, green, yellow, iron-red, lilac, puce and brown enamels and gilt.
Soft-paste porcelain milk jug and cover, decorated with underglaze blue, green, yellow, iron-red, lilac, puce and brown enamels and gilt. Pear-shaped with fluted sides and sparrow-beak spout, lobed ear-shaped handle and slightly inverted footring. The domed and fluted cover has a knob in the form of an open flower with leaf terminals. Painted on one side with two exotic birds on an island in a park, and on the other with a single bird surrounded by flocks of distant birds, two larger birds and three insects in flight. Above, there is an underglaze blue band edged with gilt C-scrolls and on the rim, gold dentilations. On the back the handle there is a feather and dots in gold. the cover is decorated with a similar border surrounding three birds in flight; the flower knob is picked out in gilding.
