Description

Soft-paste porcelain teapot and cover, decorated underglaze in powder-blue, and with flowers onglaze in polychrome enamels and gilt.

Soft-paste porcelain teapot and cover, decorated underglaze in powder-blue, onglaze in polychrome enamels and gilt. Globular with curved spout and loop handle; shallow domed with conical finial. Powder-blue ground reserved with two fan-shaped panels containing exotic birds amid leafy branches in iron-red, puce, yellow and green, and eight circular medallions containing moths and other insects, all edged by gilt lines and sprays of flowers and foliage; puce rococo scrolls on the spout and handle. The cover is decorated en suite with a gilt band round the edge; the knob is decorated with gilt arrowheads and dots.
