Description

Soft-paste porcelain sugar bowl and cover, decorated underglaze in powder-blue, and with flowers onglaze in polychrome enamels and gilt.

Soft-paste porcelain sugar bowl and cover, decorated underglaze in powder-blue, onglaze in polychrome enamels and gilt. Circular with deep sides, curving inwards to the footring; domed cover with flower knob on a stem with three leaves. Powder-blue ground reserved with three fan shaped panels containing polychrome exotic birds amid foliage, edged by gilt lines and floral sprays, separated by three circular medallions containing moths edged by gilt circles. The cover is decorated en suite but with one moth and two smaller insects in the circular reserves. The flower is powder-blue and gold inside and yellow and puce outside. A gilt band encircles the edge.
