Soft-paste porcelain cream jug painted in polychrome enamels with flowers and insects.
Soft-paste porcelain cream jug, painted in blue, green, yellow, red, mauve and grey enamel colours. Pear shaped body with sparrow beak lip; loop handle with inward scroll at the top, thumbrest, and inward and outward scroll at the bottom. Decorated with a stork standing between flowering plants, and with three insects.
History note: Dr and Mrs Hugh Statham; Dr Statham died 1967; Mrs Statham died 1970; their daughter, Miss Beryl Statham by whom lent anonymously in 1970. Bequeathed by Miss Statham, 1990, accepted by H.M. Government in lieu of Inheritance Tax and allocated to the Fitzwilliam Museum
