Factory: Chamberlain's Worcester Porcelain Factory
Porcelain inkstand, glazed, with claret ground, painted in enamel colours, and gilt.
Porcelain inkstand, with claret ground, painted in enamel colours, and gilt. The rounded rectangular inkstand stands on three bracket feet at the front, from which rises a leaf-shaped gallery which forms the pen-tray. The central portion, which is enclosed by curved galleries, and has two upright scallop shells at the back corners, has three circular holes which contain removable receptacles for ink, pen, and pounce, each with a cover surmounted by a rose or viola finial. The back integral taperstick flanked on each side by a quill-holder of square section. On the front is a rectangular gilt-edged panel enclosing a named view of Worcester, painted in colours in reserve on a claret ground. The whole is enriched with gilding.
