Porcelain ice-pail and cover and liner, decorated with an underglaze blue scale ground, reserves painted in polychrome enamels with flowers, and gilding
Porcelain ice-pail with cover and liner, decorated with an underglaze blue ground, painting onglaze in red, yellow, green, pink and purple enamels, and gilding. The circular pail has rounded sides and double, angular handles, and stands on four bun feet. The cover has a high galleried side, and central high heart-shaped finials formed of overlapping scrolls; the deep liner with rounded sides and everted rim. The ice-pail has a blue-scale ground, reserved with three panels of coloured flowers, framed by gilt rococo scrollwork, and separated by smaller panels; the cover is similarly decorated, and the interior of the gallery is gilt with a band of berried foliage; the handles, feet and finials are gilt; the liner is plain, but for a gilt-edge rim. In a pair with C.112.1 & A & B-1918.
