Bone china 'Trembleuse' cup and saucer, decorated with transfer-printing in blue and raised gold banding.

Bone china 'Trembleuse' Cup and Saucer, decorated with transfer-printing in blue, raised gold banding. Truncated conical cup with ear-shaped handle moulded with a slight longitudinal ridge and three crossed ribbons at intervals. Circular saucer with recessed base, deep, narrow well, and almost flat, wide rim. With the exception of a narrow band at the bottom, the exterior of the cup is decorated with blue scale pattern, overlaid by a raised gold folding fan, two adjacent stylised chrysanthemum heads, and three adjacent oval motifs enclosing rhomboids. There are three gold bands below, and one on the rim, which is dentated on the interior. The handle is decorated with three vertical gold lines and the crossed ribbons are outlined in gold. The rim of the saucer is decorated en suite with the addition of three adjacent circular patterned motifs and a butterfly. There are three gilt bands round the well and one on the outer edge. In the well, slightly off-centre, there is a raised gold leaf. On the edge of the footring there is a gold band.
