  • Text: beautiful / Alexander[i] young Mars on black[ii] marble a naked figure / of a grand outlien, the parts are made out in a square & noble manner / Venus & Mars white marble, see perrier / Narcissus on his knees lifting up / one hand in admiration of the representa- / -tion of himself in the water, a beautiful / figure / Easculapius[sic] standing his hand amongst his / beard supporting his head, the head is / sublime, the breast which is naked is / of the grandest form, the attitude & drapery / is extremely noble / Venus Sitting with a Cupid on her lap / very beautiful &c &c / Etruscan bronzes / An Orator or Haruspex raising[iii] his / hand raised as if making an appeal / to heaven, the figure & drapery are / natural but hard, the eyes most likely / have been supplied by precious stones or enamel for at present there are only holes / A Chimaera of a hard manner, the size / of a Lion
