Soft-paste porcelain figure of a Reclining Man, painted underglaze in 'Littler's blue', and onglaze with polychrome enamels.
Soft-paste porcelain figure of a reclining man, slip-cast, painted underglaze in 'Littler's blue', and onglaze with green, yellow, pink, puce, red, brown, and black enamels. The uneven underside is glazed beneath the edge, and unglazed in the middle where there is a circular ventilation hole, and two firing cracks. The man reclines against a rock on shaped, rococo scroll-edged base with an applied rose and three leaves between his feet. He holds a basket in his left hand, his right hand raised. He has brown hair, eyebrows, and eyes, ruddy cheeks, and red lips. He wears a shirt with ruffles at the cuffs, a blue jacket lined with white, a pink waistcoat decorated with puce embroidery, yellow breeches, and black shoes. The scroll-edged base is picked out in red and puce, the back of the rock is washed in green.
